I’m Karin, a Westchester County and NYC-based photographer, writer, and director specializing in performing arts photography, with a focus on theatre and dance. I specialize in telling the story of the show from every perspective, from table read to tech week. Rehearsal is a time when multiple narratives take shape, and theater kids of all ages know there’s drama everywhere: the stage left quick-change; the line you always forget; and that time the fog machine set off the fire alarm. There’s no memories like show memories! I capture backstage intricacies and the exuberance of performance; these memories are vital touchstones that we carry with us throughout our lives. Photographs allow us to go back and relive those moments.
Through the years, I have had the immense privilege of being Staff Photographer at the Lark Play Development Center in New York City, as well as at Golding Academy of Movement and Dance; my work has appeared in American Theatre, BroadwayWorld, and on the cover of Irish Dancing Magazine; and I have photographed such theatre luminaries as Tina Howe, Dominique Morisseau, Sarah Ruhl, Graciela Daniele, and Michael John LaChiusa.
Additionally, I am a proud member of Actors’ Equity, SAG-AFTRA, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and the Dramatists Guild.
